Shadow has a set of clear DNA health tests as detailed below, guaranteeing he and none of his offspring will be affected by Progressive Retinal Atrophy (CORD1), Fucosidosis, Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency or Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS).
Tested in November 2018 at age 2.5 years:
- DNA test for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (CORD1) – Clear
- DNA test for Fucosidosis – Clear
- DNA test for Phosphofructokinase Deficiency (PFK) – Clear
- DNA test for Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) – Clear
Shadow had a clear BVA eye test in November 2018.
He also has a zero grade (normal) for his BVA Gonioscopy exam which results in a Kennel Club classification as ‘Clinically Unaffected’ and highly unlikely to develop primary glaucoma. To find out more about the Gonioscopy testing procedure, click here.
Shadow has one of the lowest hip score ratings of 3/3 (6) as scored in May 2019. A hip score is the measure of evidence of hip dysplasia (abnormal development). Scores for each hip are added together to get an overall hip score (0-106). The average score for breeding Springer Spaniels in the UK is 13.
